ECPAT Sweden´s Hotline Privacy Notice

1. Introduction

ECPAT Hotline is ECPAT Sweden´s web-based reporting site that allows anyone to leave a tip on any form of child sexual exploitation. ECPAT Hotline’s task is to contribute so that more sexual crimes against children are prosecuted. The work in ECPAT Hotline also contributes to the removal of online child sexual abuse material. When leaving a tip, there is a choice between being anonymous or submitting personal data.

ECPAT Hotline will keep your personal data secure. In this privacy notice, we want to explain how we ensure that your personal data is lawfully handled and how you can exercise your rights.

2. Personal data controller

ECPAT Sweden, with address Sankt Göransgatan 66, 6 floor, SE-112 33, Stockholm, Sweden and organisation identity number 802402-5499, is personal data controller for the personal data processed by the organisation.

3. When does ECPAT Hotline process your personal data?

When you register a tip via ECPAT Hotline, we collect the personal data you choose to enter, such as name, e-mail and telephone number.

When you send an e-mail to info@ecpathotline.se, we collect your e-mail address and any other personal data you enter in your tip.

The ECPAT Hotline system makes it possible for you to return and receive information about your tip. It is important that you save the reference number assigned to your tip.

4. What is the lawful basis of the processing of your personal data? 

For the collection, storage and transmission of your personal data, for the purpose of making it possible for the Police Authority to follow up on your tip, we use the lawful basis of your consent.

By submitting your personal data in the tip, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to the Police Authority, unless you explicitly state otherwise. You have the right to retract your consent at any time by following the instruction under the section ”Withdrawal of consent” below.

5. What do we use the data for?

The personal data you enter will be registered in our database, so that the Police Authority can contact you in order to collect further information regarding your tip.

ECPAT Hotline produces certain statistics regarding tips, such as type of crime, but the statistics never include personal data related to anyone leaving a tip.

6. To whom do we transfer data?

The Police Authority will have access to your data if ECPAT Hotline forward the tip to the Police Authority.

7. Where will my personal data be processed?

Your contact information will be stored in Sweden and will not be transferred to another country.

8. How long do we store your data?

We store your personal data until it is no longer needed to efficiently follow up on your tip, however no longer than twelve months.

9. Your rights as registered

Right to information – register extract

You have the right to access and receive information about your personal data processed by ECPAT Sweden, including for what purpose, a so-called register extract. If you want a register extract, send your request to info@ecpathotline.se or to:

Include your reference number if you have access to it. The register extract will only be sent to your registered address.

Rectification, restriction and erasure

You always have the right to have inaccurate information rectified, or to restrict the processing of your personal data. You can also request that your personal data is erased. If we cannot grant your request, for legal obligations for example, you will be informed. However, we can restrict processing of personal data to meet legal obligations only.

Right to data portability

Under certain conditions you have the right to have your personal data transferred to another personal data controller (data portability). One condition is that the personal data is processed with your consent or to fulfil an agreement with you. This only applies to personal data that you have entered yourself. ECPAT Sweden will make a case-by-case assessment if there is a right to data portability.

Withdrawal of consent

When personal data processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent. Contact ECPAT Sweden via any of the addresses listed in the section “ECPAT Sweden contact information” below if you want to withdraw your consent.

If you withdraw your consent ECPAT Sweden will cease to process your personal data. If the personal data has already been sent to a third party (the Police Authority), ECPAT Sweden cannot affect further processing by the Police.

The right to register complaint with supervisory authority

If you believe the processing of your personal is unlawful, you are welcome to contact ECPAT Sweden. You also have the right to register a complaint with the supervisory authority, Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (imy.se).

10. Links to external websites

Ecpat.se/hotline may contain links to websites managed or owned by other parties then ECPAT Sweden. ECPAT Sweden is not responsible for any processing of your personal data on these websites.

12. Security of processing

ECPAT Sweden implements appropriate technical and organizational measures needed to protect your personal data against undue access, alteration or erasure.

13. The use of cookies

ECPAT Sweden may use cookies on the hotline report page on ecpat.se/hotline. If this is the case, you will be informed.

14. Changes in the privacy notice

We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy notice. If so, ECPAT Sweden will publish the adjusted privacy notice and when it will be applicable on ecpat.se/hotline. We may also inform you in other ways, for example via e-mail. If you have any questions or opinions, you are welcome to contact us.
